The Vehicle Extrication & Rescue Technician program utilizes the text book: Vehicle Extrication Levels 1 & 2: Principles and Practice. The text consists of thirteen chapters and addresses fundamental skills through heavier commercial vehicles. The course is designed with 25% lecture and 75% hands-on training. Topics covered include conventional hydraulic extrication, buttress stabilization systems, hand tool extrication techniques, stabilizing, lifting, and medical considerations. Students must achieve a 70% or greater on exams at Awareness, Operations and Technician Level, as well as practical skills testing in order to receive a certificate
